upgrade and expansion
Shops start out with a few basic items and one OOC useable service. Through doing certain things, selling enough OOC items, or site events, you can add new stock or provide a new service!
This only applies for OOC goods and services. You are free to say you have bananas for sale, or serving a kiwi drink, things that are not in the system/games, and will not gain OOC perks off them.
You may turn an IC item into an OOC item later on. That same bunch of bananas could eventually be put into the system, given OOC perks, and recipes to cook with!
creating services
Besides selling items like bread, or a brush for monsters, shops may have services they are hired for. You are free to RP out these services ICly, or keep it OOC! Make sure you let potential customers know if you will do an IC thread with them for the service.
You start off with one free service spot! You may create one service that either adds +1 skill levels, or grants a base 50FP to a person on behalf of the hirer.
The 50FP can increae or decrease based on the person's like and dislikes. The receiver is still in control of how much FP a gift gives!
Both these types of services can still give normal skills levels and FP. If someone hires you to tutor them about fire magic, they get the +1 from the service, on top of a bonus level if you hit page 3. When the thread closes, you can still add/subtract FP depending on how it went!
adding new items
There are two ways for new stock to be added to a shop: - sell items for enough OOC to buy the ability to stock the item
- characters sell enough of the item to have them automatically added to a shop for sale
Once an item has been sold 50 times, the appropriate shop can automatically add it to their sellable stock! You may buy the ability to stock a new item by paying 500G from the shop till, though you are free to add your character's own OOC money too!creating new ooc items
When you want to create a new OOC item, or convert a IC only one, you will be adding it to your Upgrades section of the shop. The full guide to creating an item can be found in this thread.

setting up
Now that you're the owner of a shiny new shop, let's get it set up! Every shop front will be using the same codes to display their information. This part of the thread will walk you through each part.
first post
1. 450x200 Banner: a nice banner space for you to place an image to show off your shop. It can be anything you want that is related to your shop - maybe you'll show off some nice gemstones for the jewellery shop, or a sunny field for the florists! 2. Shop Name: You are free to name your shop anything you want. Name it after yourself, use a name from one of the Harvest Moon or Rune Factory games, or just make a pun - it's up to you! 3. Text: this is where you can describe what your shop looks like, or write a generic welcome message. Do it in any style or pespective you want - it's your shop, and your description! 4. Staff: you will be putting the positions in your shop here, who is currently doing that job, and a short description of their role. Members are free to take up the positions, even as the owner of the shop you do not get to control who can take up the position. Each shop has some preset positions, but you may create new ones. Be ure to post in the Job Claims thread so we can update the list with your new positions or change the names of them!
[tbody]
STAFFNAME DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION

STAFFNAME DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION

STAFFNAME DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION
[/tbody]
[/div] 1. shops All the shops in Selphia are run by the member with the character who owns the shop. This makes you a minimod of sorts!
We ask that the currently listed shops in the Job Claim thread are filed before creating new shops. You may create duplicate shops once the originals have been filled and set up properly.
Members may own two shops at a time. You may be an employee at as many as you want!
shop owner responsibilities
As the owner of the shop, you will be creating an information thread on the board that corresponds with where the shop is located ICly. This thread will be stickied. Shop owners have higher activity requirements than normal members. This is because without you, the shop will come to a standstill both ICly and OOCly. Shop owners are expected to update their shop thread once a week as applicable. They are expected to post in threads related to organising events. Failure to do so multiple times without warning or contacting staff will have your character demoted from owner to another employee position. As a shop owner, you will be: - creating the other positions in the shop
- creating other special services the shop may sell
- organising events and involvement in festivals
- keep track of the OOC money in the shop till, which is used to buy upgrades and other goodies for your shop
- creating the IC description of the shop
- working with staff to create new items and services

prologue If you are not familiar with the Rune Factory games, do not worry! Reset is able to be enjoyed without any prior knowledge of the games, due to the way our story is set up. Knowing the games will give you background in how the site was made and what we are based off, but there is much more to Reset than could be in the games, building on the lore and setting, and adding much of our own flavour to the world.
The world of Reset is an alternate world created at the end of Rune Factory 4. In Ethelbert's brief moment of godhood, his hatred and madness caused another reality to be created. This new world has not met as good an end as the games however, having a 'bad end' in some areas, and outright turning back time to before the Earthmate and the Rune Spheres arrived in Selphia.
arriving in selphia
The neighbouring Sechs Empire has been slowly taking more and more land as their own. The run down and abandoned town of Selphia is the closest settlement near these invasions. The Divine Dragon of Wind, a goddess like entity, calls Selphia home... though something unknown has been corrupting the magic of the land for a long time now, weakening the dragon.
Knowing the Sechs hatred of magic, and the poor state of the Divine Dragon, the King of Norad has begun offering grants and other incentives to try and bring people - and thus protectors - back to Selphia.
Maybe you're a new shop keeper opening their first store. Maybe you're a thrill seeker, wanting to fight out in the wilds. Or maybe you're just a farmer, looking for their own piece of land to take care of.
Whoever you are, welcome to your new life in Selphia: run down buildings, the looming threat of the Sechs invasion, and strange magical events!

let's go exploring
This thread is for dungeons. If you are looking for information about exploring other areas outside of Selphia, see THIS THREAD instead.
Filled with rare items and aggressive monsters, exploring the dungeons that lay outside of Selphia comes with great risk and great reward!
Unlike normal Selphia threads, threads that involve exploring the outside or a dungeon do use time passing as a major part of it. You do not have the give a date or keep strict track of what day it is, just be aware of what season it is, as with normal Selphia threads.
What are dungeons?
Dungeons are run by staff. When you go to make a thread that involve exploring a dungeon, be sure to put the tag (mod) in the title, and drop it into the shoutbox when you first make it so we know to head on over to get things started!
Dungeons are enclosed areas such as ruins, mansions, or caves that are full of monsters. They have at least one boss monster that stays in one set room, and one roaming boss monster that moves about in a set pattern.
If you’re familiar with the Etrian Odyssey games… keep an eye out for those FOEs...
Some dungeons will always have the same layout, and have a reliable map to update and work with as you discover new areas. Other dungeons are warped by the runes that flood the area, constantly shifting the layout each time you enter!
Make sure you keep in touch with other people who have been in area to get the latest information!
dungeons and time
At the start of the thread, pick what time it is ICly and make it clear in your OOC notes! The time of day changes what sort of monsters appear and other events that may happen in the dungeon!
The staff posting to progress your dungeon exploration will update what time it is in the thread. Time passes for a few separate reasons.
Talking, eating, crafting, picking up items off the ground, opening treasure chests, and healing spells are free actions! You may take as many posts as you want to actually ICly travel through a room, or beat up a monster, as long as you do the minimum amount needed to defeat the monster.
traveling through a room or corridor with no monster fights takes half an hour fishing takes half an hour for each single attempt to catch something mining a single ore deposit takes half an hour
An hour will pass when: traveling through a room or corridor with up to two monsters requiring one or two posts after defeating 3 monsters that require one or two posts after defeating 2 monsters that require three posts after defeating 1 monster that requires 5 posts
dungeon INFORMATION
Each dungeon has a thread for all the known information and the current map of it. Here you can add your own findings to the list to help out your fellow Selphians… or keep it secret! Even if a dungeon has a random layout, the information about the monsters, items, and time sensitive events will remain the same.
Once you’re done exploring a dungeon, be sure to go share what you’ve learned over in the information thread for that dungeon! This will also update the map for everyone to see.

time Reset runs on liquid time. You are free to have as many threads as you can handle at a time, bounce around days. This means there may be some strange occurrences ICly in how fast some items grow and how many times you grow some crops - try not to think too much about it.
You do not have to date your threads or keep strict track of what IC calendar day you have made threads on.
You do not have to timestamp your posts or hard track time when your thread does not involves exploration, dungeons, or otherwise being inside of Selphia.
The average day takes place between 5am to 11pm. Shops are free to set their opening times and days as they wish.
We do have a calendar for reference, listing the upcoming events and birthdays. Some events may ICly only be a day long, but OOCly run for a week or two. Once a festival or other event has passed, you can not liquid timey wimey back to it.
Seasons Seasons change every 3 months. As long as the season is running, that’s the season the IC RP world is currently in. IC seasons are still the classic Harvest Moon/Rune Factory 30 days.
Winter: Dec. Jan. Feb. Spring: Mar. Apr. May. Summer: Jun. Jul. Aug. Autumn: Sept. Oct. Nov.
IC a character’s birthday will be things such as Winter 5, but OOC that Winter 5 could be Dec 5, Jan 5, or Feb 5 for example. Make sure to get both birthdates down so you can get a present!
ic passing time
Time passes when you’re out exploring the wilds or a dungeon. Moving places takes time, fighting monsters takes time. The time of day can have greatly change what monsters appear, and has an impact on the health of your character - you’re not going to be dungeon diving and spending 10 pages exploring, monster slaying and treasure finding, then say only an hour passed ICly!
When does time pass?
Talking, eating, crafting, healing spells are free actions!- traveling through a room or corridor with no monster fights takes half an hour
- fishing takes half an hour for each single attempt to catch something
- mining a single ore deposit takes half an hour
An hour will pass when:- traveling through a room/area/corridor with up to two monsters requiring one or two posts
- after defeating 3 monsters that require one or two posts
- after defeating 2 monsters that require three posts
- after defeating 1 monster that requires 5 posts

Looking for some help making a character, or want to check up on something? Here's a list of places to have a look around! Please be aware these sites are in no way part of Reset or reflect the thoughts and opinions of the staff. Some sites may contain NSFW content or otherwise triggering material. The advance search on Anime Characters Database is an excellent starting point if you don't have a name of a potential FC, or are looking for a particular combination of features. Tumblr is a great source of images, as well as writing help. Check the sources of the posts too! Here are a few places to look through, who may also have their own recommended blogs and sites. The Writing CafeImage sites such as DeviantArt, Pixiv, and Zerochan are large and popular sites for finding a face claim for your character. Face is a resource board they may also help you out. For image editing software, try out Krita, a free download that mimics features from Photoshop. GIMP is another option. Need a hand when it comes to height and weight? While this chart is real life photos, it is an irreplaceable source of images for a variety of height and weight combinations. For a quick height comparison, try out this site.

FACE CLAIMS Here is a regularly updated list of face claims for the characters of Reset. All FCs should be animanga style (but does not necessarily need to be from an anime or manga!) and PG-13.
Do not use canon Rune Factory characters, including the MCs, for face claims. Other Harvest Moon/Bokujo Monogatari games are fine.
Please avoid gore or overly bloody images. Do not use cropped porn or highly suggestive images for any graphics.
While we prefer fanart/series to be used for FCs, you may use unnamed and/or original characters - write the artist's name in place of the series.
You are also welcome to draw your own art, or use gift art, requests, commissions, or other art given to you.
Please use the code below to post your FC once your character's profile has been approved!

grow and harvest
harvesting
tl;dr: add or minus a few numbers and boop, you got some shiny new items
Every fruit, vegetable, and flower has a few bits of set information. This is what you will be using to determine how much you gain from a harvest of the crop. You’ll find them list over HERE - these are the numbers we’ll be using to calculate how much your harvest
average harvest + season bonus + watering can bonus + fertiliser + giantiser + Farming skill = harvest
Let’s use a simple turnip as an example!
The square of turnips was planted in Summer, and watered with a Sturdy Watering Can. Basic fertiliser was used, but no giantiser. The character has 25 Farming
5 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 1 = 11 turnips!
Now let’s try another crop. This square is of leek, planted in Summer, watered with a Cheap Watering Can, with no fertiliser, and no giantiser. The farmer has 50 Farming skill
1 - 2 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 2 = 1 leek
grow time
tl;dr: add or minus a few numbers to see how long you have to wait
Grow times are based on IRL days. The time it takes for a crop to grow can change due to the season, tools used, and/or using booster.
Every fruit, vegetable, and flower has a few bits of set information. This is what you will be using to determine how long they take to grow. You’ll find them list over HERE - these are the numbers we’ll be using to calculate the time.
average grow time - hoe bonus - season bonus = time to grow
Let’s use those turnips again. The square of turnips was planted in Summer, in land tilled by a Sturdy Hoe. Basic booster was used.
3 - 1 - 1 = 1 day
Now let’s see how the leek goes! This square of leek was planted in Summer, in land tilled by a Cheap Hoe.
9 + 2 - 0 = 11 days

let's farm!
Right! Let’s get into actually farming now that you have an overview of the bits and bobs involved in it. This is the OOC side of farming. IC only farming does not need to use any of this system, including having to OOCly buy the seeds, but remember - IC only farming means you can not use the produce to create OOC items. - choose where you are planting (community farm or prepared wild farmland)
- pick your seed(s)
- list what tools were used
- write the date you planted them
- post in the community farm thread or the wild farm thread with your info
- put all this in your tracker!
...and there you go, now you just have to wait for those little seeds to take root and grow. preparing wild farmland
Unlike the safe, settled farmlands inside Selphia, if you want to establish a small slice of the wild to farm on, you’re going to have to put in some work before planting. Remember that wild farmland does not come with free tools, you must own your own to work the land with!
First you must clear the area. This occurs ICly over three threads (or two if you have the right tool!), that involves monsters or other problems you need to solve before being able to use the land to plant on.
To do this, simply make a thread in the area you want to clear land (eg. Selphia plains),put the (mod) tag in the title, and toss it into the shoutbox at the bottom of the site. A staff member will come and start up your event for clearing the land!

introduction tl;dr: Farming can be done purely ICly or purely OOCly, to produce both IC and OOC items.
IC items are anything that isn’t part of any of the systems on the site - things like bananas, keeping a normal cat as a pet, making a brooch that isn’t on the item list. This includes money that is not used to buy OOC items.
OOC items are things that are in the systems, and can be used in the crafting systems to make items. They have assigned values/stats, recipes, buy/sell price. This includes money that is gained through posting, selling items, completed quests, or won through events.
You should have your OOC items written down in your Tracker for proper inventory! The staff do not keep a strict eye on member’s trackers, we trust you to not add items you have not grown or otherwise received in the roleplay - please don’t cheat!
how farming works
tl;dr: plant seeds, use items, get OOC usable resources after a few IRL days
Till, plant, water, wait… harvest! That is farming at the absolute simplest. Of course there’s a bit more involvement, but farming and growing food for OOC crafting only needs the simplest of things to work.
Farms are split into two kinds: the community farms, which everyone can use, and wild farms, which need to be discovered and properly settled for use. First we’ll have a quick look at the basics that apply to both types of farmland!
quick overview
Plant growth times work on real time. If a plant takes 5 days to grow, it is 5 days in real time. You do not have to RP out 5 different days to have the food grow! Grow time depends on the seed planted, tools used, and the season. A good season removes one day from grow (and regrow!) time, a bad season adds 2 days to the grow (and regrow) time.
Different tools will have different effects. The better quality the tool, the better benefit it gives to your crops - fast grow time, more produce, and other benefits.
Your Farming skill can provide various bonuses
Farmland is divided into squares.
A single bag of seeds covers one square.
Fertiliser will increase your harvest! It comes in three kinds - basic (+1), super (+3), and special (+5). A single bag covers one square.
Giantiser will increase your harvest by one, and turns your crop in giant crops. A single bag overs one square.
Farmland must be prepared before it can be used. Community farmland is already prepared and can be planted on right away.
Harvest size depends on the tools used to grow the crop, and the fertiliser used.
Runeys are small, vegetable looking spirits of the land. Sometimes they’ll show up when harvesting, giving you a bonus level on a random skill.
farm types
tl;dr: farming inside Selphia is safe, farming outside means monsters!
There are two types of farmland you can work with: the community farms, or prepare your own farmland outside Selphia - wild farms.
Community farms are found on the castle grounds inside Selphia. Every character is alloted a space in them, and the farmland can be magically expanded to give more room. The community farmland comes with it’s own tool shed, so you do not have to own your own tools in order to farm.
The seasons of Selphia change as the year progresses. This means the farmland also changes season - be sure to check the information of the seed you are planning on using, so that it is the right season for growing it!
See the Castle Resources thread to see the current state of the community farms. You will find out how much space you have, and what tools are in the shed here, among other nonfarming things that are free for every character to use.
Community farms are safe areas. You won’t have to worry about random monsters coming in to grab a snack normally. There may be sitewide story events that disrupt the farm, but otherwise you don’t have to worry.
Wild farms are a different ball park! Farms in the wilds have the benefit of being permaseason, and being able to increase their size with a little work. On the negative side, you will have to prepare the land yourself from scratch, deal with monsters and Monster Gates, and they do not come with their own tools - you’ll have to own them!
Wild farms are not safe. You will have to keep an eye out for monsters or other people trying to steal or ruin your small plot of land!
