this just in!
While out exploring new lands or old, you may come across monsters, items, and areas that have not been noted in the matching information thread.
You can share the information in this thread, which means the relevant threads are updated for everyone to use.
Information in here can be assumed IC knowledge.
how it works
The full information on an aspect of a monster will be put in the Bestiary when one of the criteria is met: - 5 total reports are made
- there is a half-monster character of that monster
- 3 different people report about the monster
- a special event happens
- the monster was community created without any staff changes
reporting monsters
This includes: - taming information
- drops
- aggression
- where they were found
- anything special that occured
reporting dungeons
This includes: - updating the map
- adding gathering spots
- information about monsters
- information about bosses
- information about event

i am error
There's a lot of stuff on Reset! Sometimes the staff will not catch a misplaced word, or forget to update one of the threads that is affected by new information. If that happens, please pot in here about it!
You are free to PM a staff member or put it in the cBox, however it can end up lost for any number of reasons. Posting in here is the safest way to get something fixed up.
When reporting an error, please include what it is, and a link to the thread.
If you see an error, do not report it, then abuse the error for your own gain, you will be stripped of anything you gained from the error, receive a 200 gold fine on all your characters, and the staff will have a hard time trusting you in the future.
A staff member not posting in your dungeon thread is not an error. Do not use this thread to harass for a mod post.
If you think another member is cheating on their Journal or Heart Tracker, do not make it public. PM a single staff member about it and wait for a response.

miniprofile Over to the left is the miniprofile. You can see various bits and bobs, making the miniprofile great for easily finding, linking to, and seeing information for that character!
setting up
1. Navigation: clicking on the roman numeral will take you to another tab of the miniprofile - no having to deal with hovers here!
2. Member Group: this will display the member group the account is part of - their race in most cases, though as you can see it's my staff account!
3. Quick Reference: these are a few quick bits of information for reference when interacting with the character. For gender, you may put their gender identity, or their pronouns.
4. Gold: this is OOC gold that is granted for most posts, from selling OOC items, or gained through prizes or other events.
5. Music: this is just a little extra for giving your character a theme song or other fitting music. See below for help on setting this up.
6. Quick Links: these are for linking to your profile, journal, and heart tracker.
7. Display Name: the character's name, which can be changed in your profile. Hovering over this will reveal the @ tag for that account!
8. Played By: this is where your OOC name goes. Remember this is the same name you will be using in the cBox, and for all of your characters.
music The music needs a direct link to the song - a url that ends in .mp3 Kiwi6 is the go to site for hosting music. Here you can search for already uploaded music, or create an account to upload your own song. Please do not use songs that are overtly offensive, music that is purposefully painful and loud, or music that is a nasty 'trap' - one that seems normal but starts screaming or otherwise making a hurtful sound. images The use of GIFs is not allowed for miniprofiles. Please do not use gore or overly bloody images. Please do not use overly sexual images or cropped porn. The sizes for each image is written in the placeholder images, and in your edit profile! If you are having trouble resizing images, try a program in the helpful sites and resources thread, or asking for help from another member.

accepted! ...now what?
Got the green light from a staff member? Awesome! Welcome to being a part of Reset! Before getting stuck in making threads and RPing, there are a few things to set up to make your time here smooth and fun for everyone!
needed threads
Journals and Heart Trackers are mandatory threads that keep track of and build up your character on Reset. Every character must have their own Journal and Heart Tracker thread, and it is your responsibility to keep up to date. Staff do not keep a strict eye on either of these threads. We trust our members to be honest and not cheat in extra items or other advantages! free stuff
Have a gander at the starter item claim thread to see what goodies every new character has. Remember to update your Journal with you new stuff! plotters
Plot threads are not mandatory, but highly recommended! Be sure to scope out the Plot and Plan board, chat with other members, and organise threads with them!

character creation
You can find our profile and code over here, which has instructions on what each part is for. If you have any questions or want staff input, please feel free to post in the cBox, PM a staff member, or make a thread in Questions and Suggestions board. Please keep in mind staff do not offer profile critiques on WIP profiles by default, but you can always ask and see if any of the staff wants to - please do not harass them about it if they say no. You can reserve a face claim and/or a job claim for two weeks while working on a character. When you are ready to have your profile looked over, be sure to post in the shout box at the bottom of the site! While waiting for a staff to get to it, you could head over and work on a journal and heart tracker to post once you are accepted! inspiration Need some ideas for a character? Try seeing if there are any wanted ads or characters up for adoption, have a read through some plotters or have a look at the already accepted characters! You could also have a chat in the cBox! The Lore and Recipes board also has some threads dedicated to each race, expanding on their background and place in the world. There are also some specific threads, such as the Marriage Traditions one! goals Each profile has a section at the end called Goals! This is the spot to let the staff know of any potential plot hooks or ideas you would want to explore later with that particular character. You don't have to go indepth or have everything set up, or even end up following that storyline! Stumped for goals? What about something like... - someone who wants to become a master at cooking
- discover every kind of fish in Dragon Lake
- create a new way of using fire magic
- overcome their fear of spirit monsters
- or even just starting a family!
useful sites and resources
This thread has a bunch of links to websites and programs that may be of help when it comes to creating a character. If you have a site you think should go on the list, feel free to make a post in the thread for others to see!

title Welcome to Reset! We are an AU Rune Factory based roleplay that does not require knowledge of the series to enjoy. This thread is here to walk you through Reset, and help create your first character! Reset is a LGBTQA friendly community and safe place, and accepts characters of any gender, sexuality, or romantic orientation. Please read through our site rules! You can find our guest friendly Questions and Suggestions board over here too, if you want to ask about something and don’t want it getting lost in the cBox! There is also a STAFF INTRODUCTION THREAD over here for getting to know the staff and what they do! why join reset?
- every post helps your character, be it gaining gold, levels, or FP in relationships!
- huge variety of directions to take a character
- world and events heavily influenced by the current characters and members
- open communication in having member created items, monsters, events, and other site wide things adde
- relaxing slice of life
- ...or go out and dungeon dive all the time
- or both? You can do both!
numbers and levels
Reset uses a few number based systems for things such as battle, crafting, and the heart system. Gaining levels is very simple - just have a thread where you use the skill in a form, and characters interact! If you have played Rune Factory before, this will seem familiar, though we don't have some things like a Sleeping level or a Eating level! A few quick examples of skill levels: - two characters bonding overhow to bake a cake will give you both a Cooking level
- teaching someone about how to swing an axe gives you both a level in Axes
- defeating a monster with a spear will give you a level or levels in Spears
A few quick examples of th heart system are: - if a thread is deemed a 'good' event by the character, they gain FP
- if someone gives them a present they do not like, they lose FP
- if a personal event happens, that special amount of FP is gained/lost
Our number systems are here to give a guide and help set up goals and milestones for characters. In the end, it is the IC interactions and writing that matter!
setting Reset is quite literally an alternate universe, a world created at the end of the events of Rune Factory 4. With the large amounts of runes flying about, combined with the Mad Emperor Ethelberd’s rage, this new world was created from the worse ‘what ifs’ of the original.
Reset focuses on the run down village of Selphia, the home of the Divine Dragon of Wind, Ventuswill. The goddess like dragon remains curt and distant from the citizens, trying her best to appear strong as her magic fades, the source of her power corrupted and taken over by four monstrous beings. Sitting near the border of the aggressive Sechs Empire, Selphia must also deal with human invaders alongside rebuilding their home, and exploring the wilds for new and exciting encounters!
For those familiar with Rune Factory 4, the site title of Reset can seem a bit cheeky right now!

faq This thread contains some common questions and information that may not quite fit into any of the threads. These tend to be either too specific and conditional, or too vast and sweeping.
Some may be seen as "common sense", but having confirmation and detail always helps keep everyone confident in knowing what they can - and can not - do on Reset.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to post in this thread, make a thread on the Questions and Suggestions board, or PM a staff member!
Q&a Q. My human/other race does not fit the description in the Playable Race thread. Can they still be one? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}A. Sure, as long as it is not something huge such as giving a human an univer horn. The descriptions in the thread are meant to be general guides, not the be all end all for the appearance of them!
If they have a different hair/eye colour from what was said in the thread, it could be the result of their element alignment, or maybe they just dye their hair and wear contacts! Q. My FC does not exactly match my character's race exactly, can I still use it? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} A. Yep! There is spot in your profile for extra physical description. We understand that a fitting FC for your character may not have the pointed ears for an elf, or the tail of a mermaid, but you can still use it for your character! The Helpful Sites and Resources thread may have something to help you out with finding a matching face, or software to edit and adjust your images with. Q. Can I use FCs of Western cartoons/comics/games etc.? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}A. Sure! As long as it is animanga/cartoony in style, you are free to use any FC.
Q. Will certain races/character types be restricted? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}A. Reset will never ban or restrict a character's sex, gender identity, or their sexual or romantic orientation. If you are being harassed or pressured to create a certain type of character you do not want, say no. If the harassment continues, please contact a staff member.
As long as you are not trying to make light aligned earthmates,or half-monster univer, there will never be restrictions on character types. Even though the Playable Race thread says things such as earthmate dwarves being rare, we will not deny a character just because we already have 5 dwarf earthmates.
The world and events of the site will be created with the population make up of Selphia! Q. Do I HAVE to use the codes for my Journal/Heart Tracker/Shop? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}A. Yes. This is to ensure all the needed information is clearly displayed and quick to find. Q. Does my character have to be in a romantic relationship, or get married eventually? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}A. Not at all!
Romantic relationships and marriage are a big part of the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory series. Since Reset is based off them, we do have dedication to them, but by no means will we ever force a member and their characters to enter into one.
If you are being harass by anyone for not creating/plotting/entering a romantic relationship, or accepting marriage, message a staff member.

monsters Feeling lost without a giant rat to beat up? Got an idea for a cool roaming boss? Want to make a certain monster up to tie into a storyline for your character? Let's have a look at creating new monsters!
basic information
All monsters must have the following: - name
- element
- category
- spawn area
- drops
- is it tameable? Does it produce an item? What is the best item to give to tame? Is it rideable?
species The species, or category of monster you create will influence when and where it will appear. It also helps organise the bestiary!
Be sure to look at the current monsters to get an idea of what category the one you want to create may fit into. It can also serve a inspiration on how to fill out the details of your monster.
elements The element of a monster changes where they would be found, and some of the items they may drop. Have a look at the other monsters of the same element for an idea of what to do with your monsters.
The element also helps decide what ailments a monster may inflict, and their attack style in general.
spawning When does your monster spawn? There are a few things to consider when deciding: - how rare is it?
- where is it spawning?
- what are the other monsters in the same category like?
- is it tied to an event?
- is it a boss?
drops - what items does your monster drop?
- how rare is each one?
- do they give an item for doing something specific or special?
- if tameable, does it produce any items for their owner?

magic This is not introducing new elements. This is creating new forms and uses of magic that may different enough IC to warrant being listed OOCly, new magic that uses a new form of casting, or new magic with an effect not currently available.
An example of new magic would be the magical musical instruments and music based spells that were created for Reset. These were not in the original game, and were introduced to expand the options and world of the site!
basic information All magic must have the following: - name
- element
- skill level
- how to learn
- basic description of what it does
- any ailments it may cause
- any ailment it may cure
element The element of the spell is a good indication of what the spell does. Keep in mind the way the different elements act when picking it. Looking at what element is common among the different races, or what monsters have which element can also serve as inspiration when creating a new spell.
extra effects
This may be something like a chance to poison the target, or healing Dizzy. Again, keep in mind the element of the spell when choosing to add an extra effect - it's not likely for a water spell to cause burn, unless it was specifically a spell involving super heated water. A new spell may have one extra effect without much trouble. A second effect may be linked with the first as a tradeoff eg. the spell grants +10 fire levels, but Seals the target as well. Extra effects may be things such as: - healing an ailment
- inflicting an ailment
- giving a skill level buff
- temporarily change the alignment of someone
learning
- can you buy this spell?
- is it only tutorable by a specific store?
- can it automatically be learned at a certain element skill level?
- is it linked to an event?
- are there any special requirements to learn it?

creating items
Whether it's a new fruit to grow, a new sword to forge, or a new resource that drops from a monster
basic information
All items must have the following: - name
- buy and sell price
- method of obtaining
- shop(s) that may sell it
- category
- what it gives when added to recipes
All recipes must have the following: - name
- level
- skill used
- basic ingredients and their category
deciding ooc use
The point of making a new OOC item is in how it is used! There are a few main ways an OOC item can affect character: - give a level bonus or penalty to a single skill while equipped
- give or remove a level when consumed
- reduce one of an opponent's level
- reduce/increase or nullify the chance of an ailment
- cause an ailment while equipped
Some may have what seem to be purely IC effects - maybe you'll make a knit scarf that is enchanted to make a person smell like strawberries... which then attracts certain monsters! where to find
How does a character get a hold of the item? There are a few ways you could find it, such as: - buy from a shop only
- recipe/craft only
- mining only
- dredge it up while fishing
- drop from a certain monster
- grow it
- win it in a game or festival
recipes
Depending on the item you are introducing, you will also be creating the recipe that makes the item. - Food recipes should specify which appliance is used to create it.
- Clothes and accessories using cloth, wool, and yarn come under Tailoring
- Armor, weapons, tools, accessories and jewellery using metal, ores, and monster parts come under the Forging skill

shiny and new
While we are based off the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory series, there are a lot of things that can be built on or introduced! To help make your mark on the OOC and IC world of Reset, we are open to members suggesting and creating new items with OOC benefits to add to the site!
This thread is a guide to how the staff create new things, so that you too can create them.
If you have something you want the staff to look and consider adding to the site, or want to brainstorm new thing, make a thread on this board!
introduction Each kind of new thing you want to create have their own set of mandatory information that is used to help place them on other parts of the site, and their actual use.
IC items are anything that isn’t part of any of the systems on the site - things like bananas, keeping a normal cat as a pet, making a brooch that isn’t on the item list. This includes money that is not used to buy OOC items.
OOC items are things that are in the systems, and can be used in the crafting systems to make items. They have assigned values/stats, recipes, buy/sell price. This includes money that is gained through posting, selling items, completed quests, or won through events.
what can you make?
New items: new items should not just be a palette swap, or an attempt to make higher level items easier to obtain.
New recipes: tie into the new item, but may be new combinations of existing items too.
New magic: this is not introducing new elements. This is creating new forms and uses of magic that may different enough IC to warrant being listed OOCly, new magic that uses a new form of casting, or new magic with an effect not currently available.
New monsters: these may be common monsters you find in the wild, bosses they only show up under certain circumstances, or new types of farm animal monstified!
You may not create a new monster for the sole purpose of creating a Half-monster.
