Norad is country that Selphia resides in. Ruled by a royal family of humans, the country welcomes all races within its borders. This thread covers some information about other parts of Norad.
Norad at a glance
The country holds a rustic, medieval Europe style to it. It has four even seasons, biomes ranging from desert to snow capped mountains and the green forests between, and a variety of normal and monster creatures that are wild or domestic.
The technology level can be a bit of a weird mix - there is electricity, lights, refrigerators, but nothing like TV, cars, or even farm machines like tractors. There is some 'magitek' of sorts, the most major one being the great airships that move people and goods from town to town.
religion
There is very little in the way of organised religion within Norad. Areas have shrines and a custom or two related to their guardian Divine Dragon. The entire country follows the tradition of marriage ceremonies announcing their union to the Divine Dragon. Prays and offerings may be given to ask for the help of a Divine Dragon as well.
The Harvest Goddess is another figure the worship and prays may be directed to, especially for the more rune sensitive. She has become a symbol of sorts to direct all thanks and offerings to the earth and Forest of Beginnings to.
Norad does not have any clergy or form of organised religion. There are a variety of ways people show their thanks to the land and deity figures. The royal family allows freedom of worship - as long as it isn't sacrificing living beings.
combat
The main force in Norad are sword and shield knights. Combat in general is a metal and melee affair, with some magic thrown into the mix.
Ranged weapons such as bows are rarely used due to the ineffective nature of having to make such every arrow is properly made and enchanted with tamitaya. Slings are the only ranged weapon used, and are never used to kill. Those who wish to participate in combat from a range learn magic.
seasons and weather
Norad experiences four full, even timed seasons. Farmers can easily set up and care for crops that thrive in each season due to how consistent they are.
The majority of the country receives snow in Winter. Summer is the wet seasons, with typhoons not being a surprise. Most of the trees are deciduous, making Autumn a colourful time.

This thread covers some background information and other lore related to the elves.
Most of this will be uncommon knowledge to the majority of the populance of nonelves. Though they have mingled with Norad and other kingdoms for two generations, they are still hesitant to reveal all to their shorter lived and chaotic acquaintances.
time Elves seem to live in a world with a different flow of time. Change is a long and resisted process. Decisions are made after much deliberation. Emotions sit and demand attention long past the trigger for them.
This difference in the perception of time is the main source of conflict between elves and other races, and even internally among those who wish to live on the main continent, and those who want to keep to Emira'ul.
univer Elven society is split into three main groups: the day dwelling, the night dwelling, and the univir. Physically weaker and prone to illness, their aptitude for love magic seals the deal of putting them in less physically demanding rolls such as bookkeeping or accounting.
They possess minds capable of swifter learning speeds, making them ideal for such scholarly jobs as well. However, some Univer do not like to be cooped up - in fact, some believe that they a higher relationship with monsters than they do with their own elven kind.
There's an example of such behavior in the desert west of Sharance where a duo of univer have created a camp where monsters can live and interact peacefully without having the trouble of dealing with humans. This bond toward monsters seems deeper than others thanks to the fact that univer are able to speak to monsters, though not as fluently or clearly as half-monsters.
earthmates Before they left their island home, elves did not and could not possess the ability of an earthmate. That only happened AFTER they made contact with the native dragons when they came to the mainland. After that, human and elven relationships created more elves with the abilities to become earthmates though the vast majority (if not all) of these hybrids were born and raised on the mainland.
The Sharance Tree is said to be the first miracle performed by an elven earthmate, the enormous magic tree taking after the tree homes of Emira'ul.
That being so, many earthmates from the elven side stayed with or traveled back to the mainland after hearing or experiencing the stiff traditions that came with being in the homeland. They are probably the least traditional elves you will ever see or hear of. Ever.
half-monsters Half-monsters are accepted into elven society, but the half-monsters themselves feel as though they have no real place. They can't keep the slow pace or deal with the heavy traditions that call for them to 'take control' of their monster sides.
Many half-monster elves migrate to the mainland in hopes of living peaceful lives since their lifespans are altered thanks to their monster halves. They'll experience difficulties that no normal elf would have to go through, such as accelerated aging and periods where their sanity is on the brink.
Elven half-monsters who manage to live within the traditions and rules of the elven ways don't always live self-ruled lives. The slow pace of the elven ways can corrupt a half-monster due to the need to 'hurry' or 'rush' by elven standards. There are times when half-monsters would rather turn feral than suffer continuous bouts of insanity with the ironclad ways.
Emira’ul
An island covered in thick forests and inhuman marvels. No nonelf humaniod has been allowed to set foot on Emira'ul soil.
The trees have been lovingly tended to and reinforced with runes. Shaped by hand and magic, the tree themselves house the elves, much larger and sturdier than any tree you could find in Norad.
lifespan
Elves are known for their longevity. Even the poorest or weakest of elven-kind will often live at least twice as long as a healthy human. More wealthy elves or ones that live fulfilling lifestyles where they don't endanger themselves are known to reach at least three times the healthiest of humans!
While elves do tend to physically grow faster when they are children, their aging process nearly comes to a halt when they reach their latter teens to early twenties. Very rarely will you see an old elf with wrinkles. That's all thanks to an abundance of runes that they store in their bodies unknowingly.
views on other races
Elves have a fairly decent if not friendly relationship with humans and humans who happen to have elven blood in them.
When it comes to nonelven half-monsters, they are mostly understanding and patient of the chaotic beasts, knowing the struggle their elven half-monster brethren have with their primal side.
Merfolk however, as seen as lesser beings. Sub-human, even, though their pride and belief of being better than the vain, vapid water dwellers prevents them from being outright hostile. Merfolk just see it as a challenge to win the stuffy pointy earred tree huggers over to prove how awesome they are.
As for the dwarves, their is a known hostility between the elves and the dwarves though many elves will try and play it off to seem like they are the ones being more than hospitable to the 'dirt diggers'. The dwarven nature of immediately taking and adapting new things to their own culture sits at odds to the insular, slow ways of the elves.

toss a line
Fishing needs two things: a fishing rod, and water to toss it in! Fishing is not linked to a skill, only the type of rod you're using, and where you are fishing.
This thread covers how to fish, and how to roll for your OOC useable fish!
If you are in a dungeon, it will be noted if you can fish anywhere in the dungeon. The staff will tell you what you fished up. This is the only time, outside of festivals or other events, where you have to wait for staff to post when fishing!
types of rods
Cheap and Sturdy rods can catch common fish only. They also have a chance to break, so be careful!
Seasoned fishing rods can catch uncommon fish. They have a small chance of breaking.
Shiny fishing rods can catch uncommon, and rare fish. There's a tiny chance of these ones breaking - you'd have to be super unlucky to have it happen!
Blessed fishing rods can catch anything! You pick what table you use to roll from. Thee rods won't break either!
where to fish
- Dragon Lake
- in the wilds
- in certain dungeons marked with fishing spots
Be aware that fishing outside of Selphia will cause time to pass! For each fishing attempt, half an hour will pass.

book of monsters
The list of monsters that roam Selphia, with a few important pieces of information when it comes to dealing with them! Information in this thread can be assumed known information IClyMost monsters with all their information revealed are free to be used by members at any point. Be sure to report about monsters so that you can use them! Some monsters are already fully known about, others may only have their name known! When you encounter a monster ICly, be sure to come back and post about them in the Reporting thread so that this bestiary can be updated for everyone! ...or keep it secret so you can take advantage of the information... For reporting information and learning how the Bestiary is updated, see the Reporting Thread! If you want to make a new monster, see this thread.
If you are picking a monster for a Half-monster character, you may want to see a list from the Rune Factory. This list will conflict with the information in this thread and how the monster is portrayed on Reset. It also has 'spoilers' on what monsters will be appearing in the future if you have not playeda Rune Factory game before! There is also this thread for guidelines and help on picking your monster half! how to read 1. Species: this is the overall family type the monster is. This will be a quick indication of what the monsters are like - you're more likely to find an aggressive wolf in the Mammals category, and tricky magic users in the Fey one! 2. Description: a quick overview of the monster category. Also includes if you can make a half-monster of that family! 3. Name: what is the monster called? 4. Element: gives an idea of where you can find the monster, what it may be like when attacked, and effects how effective certain magic is against them. 5. Tameability: can this monster be tamed? 6. Aggro: is this monster passive or aggressive? Will it attack on sight, or do you need to hit it first? 7. Taming and Drops: this information is only revealed once the monster has been reported enough times. Once you see this, you can start using the monster whenever you want! Some monsters may have extra information, such as shearing woolies. 8. Description and Information: some flavour text about the monster, and information such as what it may drop, where to find the monster, and if it is rideable. Some monsters may even have information on how to change it's form! common terms

spawning your own monsters
Once a nonboss or event monster has had all their information revealed, you are free to use them in appropriate threads. You must still adhere by the tame items, drop rates, and where they spawn, as stated in the bestiary entry.
If you are unsure about when and where you can spawn a monster,or feel the bestiary entry needs more information, feel free to PM a staff member, or create a thread over in the Questions and Suggestions board.
