monster rancher
The wilds outside of Selphia are home to monsters. Some of them are friendly, others will try to rip your throat out on sight! Tamed monsters have a few uses: - produce items such as cluckadoodles and eggs
- to be used to ride around and reduce time needed to travel
- to help fight monsters
If you are looking for a list of known monsters, see the BESTIARY
If you want to create your own monster, have a look at the MAKE THINGS THREAD
monster barn
In order to keep a monster, you have to have a spot for them in the monster barn! The community barn provides spots for people to keep a monster.
You can buy extra barn space at the Monster Shop.
tame items
Tameable monsters can have a single item, or multiple items that tame them. This could be something broad (any salted fish), only one common item (dark crystal), to being rare and special items (golden turnip, legendary scale)
levels
When you first tame a monster, they revert back to being level 1. Monsters gain levels from: - being involved in fighting other monsters
- having a thread focused on training them
- having a thread where they are involved in the focus
Monsters gain the same bonus level on page 3, 6, 9 etc. that normal characters do!
changing form
Some monsters may evolve or change into different monsters at certain levels. This may be the same as half-monsters, or different.
The main way a monster changes form is by reaching a certain level, and having an item given to it. Think of it like evolving an eevee!
produce
Some monsters may produce an item. While the item will remain the same, the amount given may change!
Between levels 1 to 29, monsters will produce one item a week.
Between levels 30 to 59, monsters will produce two items a week.
From level 60+, monsters will produce three items a week.
riding
Monsters will be marked in their bestiary entry whether they are rideable or not. Time reductions only count if all the characters are on monster back!
Monters do not have a set number of people they can carry. We trust members to be aware of how big the monster is, and the weight of the characters.
Traveling through a room/area/corridor without any monster encounters will take no time when riding a monster.
Traveling through a room/area/corridor with monster fights will only take half an hour when riding a monster.
Yes, you can fight from monster back!
