couples cave
This cave, located just outside the walls of Selphia but before Yokmir Forest begins, is part of an old Selphian folk tale and even had a festival. It was said that couple who entered the cave, reached the end, wrote their names on the wall, and exited while holding hands the entire time, would be together for life.
The cave has been collapsed for over two decades now, with attempt to clear and shore up the the cave abandoned from lack of resources, or monster threats. The festival no longer runs.
blue feather
This timeless symbol of marriage that has spread to all the races of Norad, and has no signs of going out of fashion. Legends says that the first blue feather came from a bird that belonged to the Harvest Goddess.
Nowadays, the blue feather is rarely literal. Blue feather shaped charms, embroidery, gems, and other keepsakes are more likely to be given, lasting longer and safer than a normal feather.
rings Rings already have symbolism in non-marriage related gifts. The exchanging of rings is primarily a human thing, but has crossed over to other races too.
The wedding bands tend to be gold, with a diamond set into it.
Magic inclined couples may replace the diamond with an elemental crystal, or a rune crystal. Enchanting a ring to resist or nullify an ailment is popular too among adventurous pairs.

Certain races have their own traditions and expectations when it comes to proposals and marriage. This posts covers some of the main ones that are common throughout the lands.
These are not the only ways these things can happen, only a overview and how the world generalizes each race.
humans
The blue feather is the most popular proposal centerpiece for humans, with two rings exchanged at a formal ceremony in an area close to the Divine Dragon that oversees the area. Once placed, the rings are rarely taken off!
The prewedding and wedding ceremony itself have a range of styles and events that happen during it, though all of them involve announcing their union to the Divine Dragon of the area, even if it can not be in person.
dwarf While other races may see them as obsessive about shiny gems and expensive metals wrought into regal pieces, when it comes to proposal and marriage, the items are more humble in appearance.
Proposals are done with a an unadorned leather bracelet, necklace, or even hair band being exchanged between the two. In the days leading up to the ceremony, the leather is carved, embroidered, and personalised before being given back. The celebratory party tends to last all night, and can get quite rowdy.
elf A favourite tradition for any relationship for elves is planting a tree to commemorate it. As they have become more involved with nonelven people, planting a tree has helped some cope with the differences in life expectancy between races.
Elven proposals and marriage tend to be private affairs, with a small ceremony with a few family members and close friends. They give their partner a piece of jewellery that is carved to the shape of a flower or other plant, either a favourite of the receiver, or one with positive symbolism for the relationship.
A more modern proposal for unvier elves has been picking up in use. Ornate glasses, after seeing some of the fashion that humans have, are becoming more popular as a lasting and particle gift.
merfolk Proposal and marriage are huge events, with lots of razzle dazzle. Everyone in the area should know it is happening, their friends, their family in the next town over.
The proposal gift is a string of black pearls. The days leading up to the wedding ceremony has the soon to be weds showering the other with accessories and clothes, flaunting their financial status and how they can provide for their partner.
earthmates
Earthmates follow their races traditions, though they both may have extra parts to proposing and marriage.
Nonelven earthmates tend to pick up the carved flower/plant jewellery tradition of elves, and/or planting a tree. Some couples even pick a certain flower or vegetable that becomes their signature crop to grow, often ending up creating a new species of it.
The human tradition of announcing their union to the local Divine Dragon is also important. If the couple are in an area that is not the earthmates original area, a journey back to their home is needed before they feel right with the union.
